The work of the MWSF is overseen by a small group of dedicated operational Trustees who work with our fantastic volunteers, the community and the sports industry.


Ayesha Abdeen
Ayesha Abdeen – Ayesha joined the MWSF as a member of the British Muslim Women’s Futsal Team in 2003 and became Vice Captain of the team in 2005.  Her greatest impact, however, came in her 5-year role as Chief Executive responsible for delivering the MWSF’s various projects.  Ayesha is a qualified physiotherapist and a keen advocate for using sport to help develop and empower communities.


Rimla Akhtar
Rimla Akhtar (Chair) – Rimla joined the MWSF as a member of the original British Muslim Women’s Futsal Team in 2001 and became Captain of the team in 2005.  She is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has a passion for working towards a truly inclusive society through sport.  Rimla became Chair of the MWSF in 2005 and has been a prominent activist for diversity and inclusion in sport both nationally and internationally.


Umar Akhtar
Umar Akhtar – Umar is a qualified accountant with vast experience in both the community and the business world.  He joined the MWSF in 2007 as Treasurer and has been a staunch supporter of providing equal access and opportunities for all.  Umar is a massive sports fan and participant himself, particularly watching and playing football and cricket.
